Radharani, the wife of Shri Krishna who freed his father Vasudev and mother Devki from Kansa’s captivity, is still imprisoned in the store room of Ghatampur police station. For the last 16 years, Kanha is celebrating his birthday without Radharani. On Monday night, Janmashtami, he will be worshipped without Radharani.

It is known that on 11 February 2008, thieves broke the lock and stole the 80 kg ashtadhatu idol of Radhaji installed in the ancient Radha Krishna temple located in Bhadras village. The then caretaker of the temple, Prakash Chandra Khare, had lodged a report in Ghatampur police station. The then police also arrested the accused Shyamji Gupta, Vinod Mishra, residents of Damodarnagar police station Naubasta, Ankur Singh, resident of Balhapara police station Ghatampur, Amit Kushwaha, resident of Dhanikheda police station Kalyanpur, Dinesh Prajapati, resident of Imlipur police station Bidhanu and goldsmith Mohammad Haseen, resident of Premnagar police station Chamanganj within a fortnight and recovered the idol of Radharani.
